Chester Ray Hunter, Jr, age 58 of Wallace was born in Pender County and was the son of the late Chester Ray Hunter Sr. and Gaynell Mobley Hunter of Wallace.

In addition to his loving mother, Ray is survived by his brothers, Eddie Hunter of Burgaw, Greg Hunter and wife, Joann of Willard and Chris Hunter of Wallace; sister; Vanessa H. Spearman and husband, David of Wallace; the family canine companion, "˜Jemma' and numerous friends that loved Ray and was loved in return.

Ray was a devoted son and caring brother who loved his family dearly, especially his nieces and nephews. With a gentle spirit and kind heart, he was always there to look after his mother and father. All through his life, Ray quietly served others volunteering his time and talents. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed all kinds of sports; baseball, softball, basketball and Nascar racing, but baseball was his favorite. He was an humble man of both compassion and kindness always lending helping hands to neighbors, friends and family. Ray will surely be missed but cherished memories will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 1, 2015 at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace, NC
