Obituary

Chinnis Sears McKoy, 74 of Wilmington passed away. He was born in Burgaw, NC on February 11, 1940 and was the son of the late Earl Delmar McKoy and Lena Hanchey McKoy. He is preceded in death by his sister Carolyn McKoy Giese. Chinnis is survived by his son Delmar McKoy, daughter Angela Woodcock and her husband Dale, grandchildren Chris Woodcock and Jessica Woodcock; and two nieces Cynthia Keller and Connie Horrell. Chinnis lived in Burgaw most of his life and then resided in Wilmington for the past twenty years. He retired as a highway inspector with the NC Department of Transportation where he was employed for most of his adult life. He was a faithful member of the Pender County Rescue Squad where he served as a volunteer for several years. He was strong in his faith and served in many capacities in the Baptist churches he attended including serving as a deacon. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.

Peggy Pope DeBose McKoy, 68 of Wilmington passed away. She was born on December 16, 1945 in New Hanover County. Peggy was a lifelong resident of New Hanover County and a 1964 graduate of New Hanover High School. She is preceded in death by her husband Ronald W. "Big Red" DeBose and her parents Charlie Pope and Catherine Savage Pope. Peggy is survived by her son Bryan DeBose and wife Sabra, daughter Kim DeBose Poplaski and husband Rick, grandson Andrew Poplaski, sisters Pat Horne of Little River, SC, Jean Watson and husband Duane of Wilmington and Deane Peterson and husband James of Goldsboro, nephews Vann Horne, Jason Peterson, Jacob Peterson and Travis Watson, nieces Tracie Watson Faler and Tricia Watson Norris, many great nieces and great nephews.

Chinnis and Peggy McKoy were married in 1993, from that day they were constant companions, a joy and comfort to each other. They enjoyed travel, the occasional yard sale and volunteering at the NH County Senior Center. They were devoted Christians and by God's will they passed from life as they had lived; together. They are at now at peace with the Lord.
