Christine Joyce Kowalski, 70, of Wallace went home to be with her Precious Lord on Friday, May 4th, 2012.
Born on June 18, 1941 in Dickson City, PA; she was the daughter of the late Felix and Tessie Kowalski.
Ms. Kowalski is survived by her sister, Cynthia Maul and husband, Don of Wallace, North Carolina; niece, Danielle Russell and husband, Donald and their children, Emily, Abigail and Zachary of Charleston, South Carolina; nephew, Dean Maul of Boynton Beach, Florida, and niece, Allison Berger and husband, Jason and their son, Ryan of Apex, North Carolina and numerous cousins and friends.
Being a graduate from Felician College in Lodi, New Jersey, Christine earned her Bachelor degree in Education and taught elementary school for several years. She then received her Bachelor of Nursing degree, also from Felician College and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Philadelphia before joining the staff at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey. In 1984, she received her Masters degree from Ryder College in New Jersey. Retiring in 2007 after 30 years of service as Director of Staff Development from Hunterdon Medical Center, Christine moved to North Carolina where she worked for a year on a consulting basis for HMC. She was instrumental in helping HMC to achieve Magnet Status, which is Excellence in Nursing. She was a faithful member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and a member of the Servants Heart Bible Study group. She also contributed her time and talents to the annual Polish Festival and played an active role in the Benevolence Committee at the Rose Hill Methodist Church.
Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday May 7, 2012 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father Ryszard Kolodziej officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.
Christine celebrated life every day and devoted her life to the service of her fellowman. She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle presence who had a remarkable ability to bring out the best in others. As a genuine, sister-in-Christ she displayed a quiet strength and grace, and a great love and concern for those near and dear to her. Christine will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
