Obituary

Christl Neuberg Weide, 87, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2014.

She was born October 14, 1926, in Germany to the late Hans Emil and Helene Pfeifle Neuberg. She married Alexander Karl Weide and immigrated to the United States as a family with their son. In addition to her parents and husband, Christl was preceded in death by her son, Hans-Wolfgang Weide.

Christl is survived by her daughter-in-law Barbara Weide, granddaughters Heather Weide Brown (Christopher) of Atlanta and Amber Weide Kollar (Christopher) of Cedar Point, great grandchildren, Haydn and Avery Brown and Peyton and Bryson Kollar.

Among her many scholastic achievements, Christl graduated college in Germany, received her undergraduate degree in English at UNC-Wilmington, and a Master's degree in European Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill. Having started her teaching career locally as a kindergarten teacher, she also taught at both New Hanover and E.A. Laney high schools, as well as Cape Fear Community College. In doing so, Christl has directly impacted countless lives as an educator and has touched many more in the Wilmington community over the years. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

Following her wishes, family and friends will honor Christl's loving memory at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Bradley Creek Chapel on Thursday, January 23 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to one of her favorite charities, the Boys & Girls Home of North Carolina in Lake Waccamaw (www.boysandgirlshomes.org/donate).
