Christopher "Chris" Marshall
Barnes
Sep 18, 1969 — Jun 14, 2024
Christopher Marshall Barnes, age 54, left this world and entered into his heavenly Father's house on Friday, June 14, 2024. He was born September 18, 1969 in Wilmington, the beloved son of Joseph "Joey" Barnes and Sue Rackley Barnes.
In addition to his parents, Chris is survived by his twin sons, Taylor Barnes and Quinton Barnes; mother of his children, Lorie Barnes; brother, Andy Barnes and wife, Misty; several nieces; lifelong friend, Keith Daniel; special friend, Mr. Kelly Bloodworth; all of his hunting buddies; and many extended family members and friends.
For many years, Chris by trade was an outstanding commercial brick mason and left his mark of excellence on the many buildings he constructed in southeastern NC, SC, and GA. Chris' construction skills were unmatched and he took great pride in always putting in a hard day's work. In later years, Chris also experimented with farming and developed a small blackberry farm in western Pender County.
Chris loved being outdoors in God's wonderful world of nature. He spent many peaceful hours fishing in the waters of Black River, enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, and was an avid bear hunter. As with everything Chris did, he put 110% of himself into every hunt and truly considered his hunting buddies to be his "Band of Brothers".
Though Chris was a man of few words, his actions in helping others spoke volumes about the depth of his heart. He lived by the words in the Book of Matthew, Chapter 6 and in doing so, quietly touched many lives. In addition to his kindness, Chris had a wonderful sense of humor that was both entertaining and infectious, and his sons were blessed to have inherited both traits from their devoted dad.
Chris loved his family, but his heart and soul were always his precious sons, Taylor and Quinton. From the moment they arrived, they were his true source of joy and he proudly enjoyed watching and helping them grow into amazing young men.
Taylor, Quinton and Lorie would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone who extended kindness and prayers to and for Chris during his struggles over the past few years. Those struggles did not define who he was and your efforts were not in vain, as he now resides peacefully with his Lord and Savior.
