Clara Mae Stephens Casey of Longs, South Carolina died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at her home.

She was born July 12, 1926 in Madison County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Dock and Mary Patton Stephens.

Surviving are her husband, Farrell W. Casey of the home; daughters, Camilla Slocum and her husband, Marvin, of Milledgeville, Georgia and Dianna Gooch of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Joseph Gooch and his wife, Elizabeth, of Hampton, Georgia and Bobby Evans and his wife, Eloise, of Winterville, Georgia; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sisters, Edith Ann Wall of Jacksonville, Florida, Frances Samples of Toccoa, Georgia and Shirley McCoy of Forest Park, Georgia.

Clara loved her family dearly and was an especially proud and caring grandmother. Some of her fondest pleasures were walking on the beach and spending time with Farrell. Her life was true evidence of her love for children and knowing they were well cared for. She will be remembered for her sweet, sweet spirit and her warm, caring heart. Clara will be missed, but never forgotten.

The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw, North Carolina and at other times will be at the home of Robert and Peggy Casey.

Following the visitation the funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Anthony McCaleb officiating.

Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Bill Casey, Casey Hough, Sam Price, Christian Thompson, Pete Summers and Anthony Medlin.
