Clara Deal Watkins, 92, of Burgaw passed from her earthly life to her eternal rest on Friday, June 29, 2012 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Clara was born August 23, 1919 in Pender County, daughter of the late Luther Wright and Beebie Smith Deal. Also lovingly remembered is her husband, William David Watkins, Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bowden and son, Wayne Watkins all who preceded Clara in death.

Clara is survived by her sons, William "Billy" David Watkins, Jr. (Judy), Silas Eugene "Gene" Watkins (Carolyn), and Bobby Lee Watkins (Barbara) all of Burgaw; son-in-law, Ross Bowden; grandchildren, Lisa Lewis (Barton), Candice Watkins-Simmons, Maureen Watkins, Robby Watkins (Amy), Donna Mintz (Timmy), Monica Foy (Gregory), Trey Bowden (Jennifer) and Beth Rivenbark (Nick); 14 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Clara loved her family with all her heart and her radiant smile brightened the life of everyone she came in contact with. All of her life she was a diligent worker making sure her family had everything they needed and some of what they wanted. Clara's home was filled with love, joy and good home cooked meals. The life she lived set an excellent example for her children and grandchildren to follow. Cherished memories of Clara will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Robby Watkins, Trey Bowden, David Foy, Brad Lewis, Ryan Watkins, Justin Fedoronko, Timmy Mintz, and Dr. Barton Lewis. Honorary bearers will be Eddie Rivenbark, Carl Bannerman, Joe Watkins and Dean Walker.

The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home until hour of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Dr., Wilmington, NC 28401.
