Claudette Jones Pickett, 76 moved in with Jesus on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Duplin Vidant Hospital in Kenansville, NC. She was born on August 13, 1945 to the late Sam and Sue Kinsey Jones. If you were lucky enough to have known her, you would have known how she could light up a room in a second and keep a smile on everyone's face.
"Girl" as she was affectionately known, loved to gather with family & friends and be anywhere her grandchildren were. She especially loved to laugh and always found a way to enjoy life. She loved her family and friends very fiercely.
She began her career in Washington, DC with Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone company and after moving back to NC, she worked with Noffsinger Realty in Wilmington. After having children and acquiring the title of "mama", she was a fabulous homemaker stayed home to make wonderful memories. When her children went to college, Claudette became a CNA and was employed at The Brian Center in Wallace where she enjoyed caring for people. In 1995, Claudette & R.L. became growers for Murphy Farms. Claudette took great pride in making the farm the best it could be. When the grandchildren came along, the nickname "Girl" was born and the rest is history. They were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda Pickett Cave and husband Greg of Wallace and David Pickett of Pasture Branch; grandchildren Kendell Cave, Kinsey Cave, Monroe Pickett & Axton Pickett; sisters Martha Batts Nichols and friend Mack Neil Raynor of Wallace and Doris Boney and husband Charles of Chinquapin; a brother, W.R. Jones of Wallace; sister-in-law Ann Henderson and mother-in-law Patsy Pickett; special cousin Donna Gail Merritt of Wilmington. She also leaves behind special nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends who loved her dearly.
Claudette was preceded in death by her husband R.L Pickett.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Duplin Vidant in Kenansville, especially ICU and 2North for their impeccable care during her stay there.
If you feel led, please honor her memory by making someone smile, watching Family Feud, drinking a Mango Pepsi or eating Panera Bread Broccoli & Cheese soup.
Funeral service will be held at 6:00p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Ronald Ginn and Pastor Brad Carter officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service until 9:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha.
Casketbearers will be Kendell Cave, Greg Cave, Bray Batts, Duane Batts, Zachary Batts, and Wyatt Dunn.
