Obituary

Clayton Chadwick, Sr., age 79, passed peacefully from his earthly life to his eternal rest on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 30, 1931 in Pender County, the son of the late William McCrae and Zelma Rivenbark Chadwick. Also remembered are his sister, Doris C. Wells and brother, Lawrence Chadwick.

Surviving is his loving family; his devoted wife of 53 years, Delores Wells Chadwick; daughter, Lois Ann Sykes (Tony) of Watha; sons, Clayton Chadwick, Jr. (Jewel) of Willard and Tim Chadwick (Tia Likens) of Wilmington; grandchildren, Zachary McCrae Chadwick, Amy Sykes and Aren Sykes; sisters, Frances Hardison of Wilmington and Elsie Wells of Burgaw; and many nieces and nephews.

Clayton was a member of Penderlea Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Clayton was a devoted husband and loving daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend. He was a retired Pender County farmer and enjoyed every minute being outdoors growing tobacco and vegetables. In years past he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Fond memories of Clayton will always remain in our hearts.

Graveside funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010 in Chadwick Family Cemetery at the intersection of Shiloh Rd. and Horse Branch Rd. with The Rev. W. E. Smith and Mr. Willie Knowles officiating.

Casketbearers will be Gary Chadwick, Ronald Chadwick, Marvin Wells, Nathan Rivenbark, Jr., Coy Rivenbark and Joey Chadwick.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
