Clyde Ezra Conner, age 86, of 102 Heather Lane, Kings Mountain, NC, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center, Rutherfordton, NC.

He was born in Cleveland County, NC, son of the late Charlie Pinkney Conner and Florence Morrison Conner. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Fred Conner, Johnny Conner, Ernest Conner and sisters Pearl Bates, Ethel Neal, Eunice Lovelace, Bertha Blalock and Ada Conner.

He retired from the textile industry and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II where he served as an aircraft mechanic in the 23rd Fighter Squadron.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce Price Conner of Kings Mountain, NC; sons, Mike Williamson and wife Pat of Mt. Holly, NC and Greg Conner of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Kathy Conner Henry and husband Chris of Orcas Island, WA; brothers, James Bill Conner and wife Hazel of Greenville, SC, and Gene Conner of Blacksburg, SC; sisters, Betty Bolin of Blacksburg, SC and Bonnie Collins of Blacksburg, SC; and grandchildren, Benjamin Cody Henry and Austin Elijah Henry.

Funeral service will be at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Petro officiating.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, NC.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, NC with The Rev. Dean Walker officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard and NC National Guard Honor Guard.
