Colton Milton Wells, age 79, of Rose Hill, left this earthly life for his eternal home with Jesus Christ his Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2012.

Born on January 22, 1933 in Pender County, he was the son of the late Crumpler and Goldie Lanier Wells. He was also predeceased by his brother, Roy Wells.

Colton served his country honorably in the US Army. After serving his country, he joined Nash Johnsons and Sons where he was employed for over 25 years. Later he opened his own transmission repair shop, known as Wells Transmissions Service where he served others for over 32 years until his retirement. Colton was a dedicated member of Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Hilda Rackley Wells; his sons, Milton Wells of Rose Hill, Danny Kay Wells of Sneads Ferry, Glenn Wells of Rose Hill and Chris Wells (Enid) of Boone; grandchildren, Nicholas Wells (Heather), Amy Wells (Trevor Padgett), Deanna Kaye Wells, Erica Elaine Trivett and Kristian Wells; great grandchildren, Blaine Padgett and Luke Wade Trivett; brothers, J.H. Wells and Delmer Wells; sister, Bertha Wells and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Colton was a devoted husband and loving father who dedicated his life to his wife and family. Being a great provider, he saw that his wife and children had what they needed and most of what they wanted. Colton lived his life based on the Word of God and instilled Christian values in his children and grandchildren throughout the years. Colton will fondly be remembered and dearly missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Rose Hill Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Melvin and the Reverend Tim Grady officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Trevor Padgett, Anthony Trivett, Joe Quinn, Marvin Wells, Kenn Wells and Steve Wells.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00pm, one hour prior the funeral service at Rose Hill PFWB Church and other times at the Well's home.
