Cory Thomas Sloop, age 33, of Castle Hayne, NC passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

He was born on September 18, 1990, in Wilmington, NC.

Cory received his associate's degree from Cape Fear Community College in Heavy Equipment and Machinery, and later became a diesel mechanic for heavy truck repair. Cory's son, Theo, was his world and he cherished their time together. Cory was very close to his family, especially with his niece and nephew. He was a bright light to many people, and he will be dearly missed.

Cory is survived by his mother, Angela Sloop-Braun and her husband, Jeffrey Braun of Wilmington, NC; father, Roger B. Sloop and his wife, Betty Sue Sloop of Moultrie, GA; son, Theo Anson Sloop of Wilmington, NC; mother of his child, Amber Martinez and her husband, Jake of Wilmington, NC; brother, Julian K. Sloop and his wife, Charity of Wallace, NC; maternal grandmother, Elaine McAteer Pressley of Greenville, SC; nephew, Tyler Lawson Sloop of Wallace, NC; and niece, Lillian Grace Sloop of Wallace, NC.

Cory was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bobby Ray Pressley; paternal grandfather, Roger Hester Sloop; and paternal grandmother, Kathleen Burcham Sloop.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 6:30 PM at Forest Hills Baptist Church 2711 Penderlea Hwy, Burgaw, NC 28425 .
