He was born November 24, 1940 in Wilmington, the son of Oscar Benjamin Brown and Leona Horrell Brown.

Crandell is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Louise Anders Brown; son, The Rev. After working many years Crandell retired as a supervisor at DuPont where he made many lasting friendships. For many years Crandell faithfully  attended Haw Bluff Baptist Church, a church where he not only worshiped, but enjoyed Christian fellowship.

Crandell loved life and was an avid Bass fisherman, member of Southeastern NC Mustang Club, enjoyed western movies/Three Stooges; and always kept an immaculate yard. Most of all Crandell loved and served his family; was a caring, loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother and great friend to many. His presence in our family circle will certainly be missed, but Crandell will always remain in our hearts.
