Daniel "Dan" Skinner, Sr.

Daniel “Dan” Skinner, Sr., 92, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed peacefully into heaven on September 16, 2026, following a short illness. His passing was gentle and comforted as the Lord received his spirit, a blessing for a faithful follower of Christ.

Born on December 21, 1933, in Wilmington, Dan was a lifelong resident of Green Meadows and built his family home on Toulon Drive in 1960. He graduated from New Hanover High School in 1952 and played tight end for the “Wildcat” football team winning the 1951 state championship. He later continued his football career on a scholarship at East Carolina.

Dan worked for Carolina Power & Light and the Sutton Steam Plant. He lived a full and varied life, enjoying waterfowl hunting, fishing, and playing bass guitar in a local band.

In March 1990, Dan was wonderfully saved and became an active in healing ministries, dedicating the remainder of his life to serving Christ.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Skinner, Jr., and wife Karen; his daughter, Belinda Jean Eudy, and husband Kieth; and his grandchildren, Dustin Skinner, John Brock, Christian McMakin, and Melissa Lollis. He has 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Oliver and Lena Mae Skinner; his wife, Mary Jean Skinner; his brothers Tom, Bill, Jack, Ed, and Eugene; and his sister Loraine, Dorthy, Lenamay.

Daniel leaves a heartfelt message: “Take a moment and look back on your life. Do you feel something missing—something that makes your spirit restless?” His hope was that others would find the same peace and salvation that transformed his own life through Christ.
