Obituary

Daniel "Dan" Edward Kusnierz, age 66, resident of River Landing in Wallace, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at his home.

He was born on March 26, 1959, in Lawrence, Pennsylvania; the son of Antoinette Rzepka Kusnierz of Greensburg, PA and the late Edward F. Kusnierz.  He was also preceded in death by his brother David Kusnierz.

Dan began his many accomplishments and contributions as a Boy Scout where he earned his Order of the Arrow and Eagle Scout.  From there he became a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, where he served in various positions such as Magister, Counsel President of the Chapter, President of House Corporation, and was in charge of House Counsel.  During his senior year at Indiana University of Pennsylvania he served as president of his Chapter for Sigma Chi.   It was just two years ago he became the president of the Sigma Chi House Corp at IUP.  Dan was also a vital part of Knights of Columbus where he oversaw the "Coats for Kids" which was a coat drive for children.  As Grand Knight and 4th Degree, he served his community by working, volunteering and supporting Habitat for Humanity, and the Knights of Columbus Food Drive where he would pick up food at Food Lion weekly and deliver to a local church pantry.  Dan was an avid golfer and was a member of RLMGA (River Landing Men's Golf Association).  He served as secretary for three years.  Above all, Daniel was a devout Catholic who was a member and served as a greeter at Transfiguration of Jesus Catholic Church in Wallace, North Carolina.

Surviving to cherish Dan's memory, in addition to his mother, is his best friend and wife of 31 years Mary Kapanoske Kusnierz of the home; sons Jeffrey P. Trinidad, Jr. and wife Danielle of Orlando, Florida and Robert "Bobby" A. Trinidad and wife Ashley of Augusta, Georgia; grandchildren Aria, Lexi, Jocelyn, Ezra and Axel; sister Diane Shope and husband Bob of Greensburg, PA; niece Jessica; nephews Brandon and Bobby; numerous extended family and friends that loved Dan dearly.

Dan was a great husband and caring father, grandfather, brother and uncle.  Throughout his life, he quietly served others volunteering his time and talents.  He was a man of compassion and kindness always lending helping hands to neighbors, friends and family.  Dan was surely a true servant of God and demonstrated his faith in the way he lived his life. Dan was a great fan of the Steelers – Penguins - Pirates.  He was Black and Gold through and through.  He was surely Pittsburgh true!  Dan will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
