Obituary

Danny Lee Brown, age 76, of Teachey left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

He was born on August 25, 1946, in Duplin County and was the son of the late James Arnold and Edith Dixon Brown. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Gail Manley Brown; and his four siblings, Jimmy Brown, Libby Ezzell, Larry Brown and Ann Hall.

Danny was a farmer all his life. He started working with his parents and, once married, worked alongside his wife and, later, his children. He grew vegetables and tobacco for years and, later, started a pig operation. Mr. Brown also served in the United States National Guard.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving daughters, Tonya Harris of Hampstead, Jenny Rich of Cary and Brandi Brown and husband, Kris of Hampstead; grandchildren, Bug Rich, Tanner Harris, Jamison Rich, Vivian Ray and Blythe Ray; his fiancée, Joann Willis of Wallace; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends that loved Danny dearly.

Danny was a loving father and caring grandfather and friend. He enjoyed the simplest things in life, but his great joy was his family.  He loved farming and growing crops.  Danny was always doing "pretty-good, pretty-good" when you asked, no matter whether it was true or not. And he had lots of funny sayings that he learned from his own dad and passed down to his three daughters. Danny had a big heart for animals and would take them in if they didn't find a home. His favorite pastime in the past several years has been watching westerns such as "Gunsmoke."

Danny was a good man who loved Gail, Joann, his girls, and his grandchildren with all his heart. He was a homebody and preferred to be in the company of his loved ones, drinking coffee or a glass of iced tea. Danny will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
