Danny Duet Woodcock, age 64, of Atkinson died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in Atkinson.
He was born June 10, 1944 in Atkinson, one of eleven children born to Manuay and Agnes Malpass Woodcock. He was also predeceased by his son, Keith Woodcock; sister, Elsie Barnhill and brothers, Everett Woodcock, Stacy Woodcock and Lewis Woodcock.
Surviving are Molly Hester Woodcock, mother of their children and his wife for many years; daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Glen Garriss of Atkinson; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Michelle Woodcock of Atkinson; grandchildren, Kirsten Woodcock and Ashton Woodcock; sisters, Janice Norris of Penderlea, Sarah Atkinson of Burgaw, Daisy Kelly, Drucille King and Dixie Malpass all of Wilmington; brother, Harold Woodcock of Atkinson; special friend, Diane Spencer of Atkinson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Danny was a masonry contractor for many years. After retiring as an exceptional brick layer Danny enjoyed his vegetable garden and cooking. Family and friends in the Atkinson community loved the fellowship and food at Danny's lunchtime gatherings every Friday. Danny's cooking and the Friday fellowship will be greatly missed by many.
Danny loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. He was a diligent worker and a plain spoken man who always shared what he had with others. He will be remembered for his engaging smile, generous nature and warm heart. Treasured memories of Danny will forever remain in our hearts.
Graveside service will be 11:00 am Friday, May 15, 2009 at Woodcock Cemetery with the Reverend William Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw and at other times will be at the home of Shannon and Glen Garriss in Atkinson.
