Obituary

Daphne DeBose Rackley, age 74, of Kenansville died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at her residence.

She was born October 21, 1933 in Pender County and was the daughter of the late Robert G. DeBose and Lillie Mae Corbett DeBose Sidbury. She was also predeceased by her husband, Melvin Henry Rackley and step-father, Thomas F. Sidbury.

Mrs. Rackley was employed as secretary to the president of James Sprunt College in the early 1970's. She then worked as a medical assistant for the late Dr. W.W. Sutton in Wallace and Plainview Medical Center in Greenevers. After retiring, Mrs. Rackley joined her son at Rackley's Towing as dispatcher and office manager. She was a devoted member of Kenansville Baptist Church where she served her church in many capacities.

Surviving are her devoted sons, Gregory Alan Rackley of Kenansville and Henry Randolph "Randy" Rackley and wife, Betty of Wilmington; sisters, Louise Woodcock of Atkinson and Carolyn Rhodes of Burgaw; brothers, Robert G. DeBose of Wichita, KS and James Daniel DeBose of Rocky Point and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Rev Mike Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

Casketbearers will be Samuel McMillan, Curtis Smith, Steve Williamson, Oliver Vestle, Danny Weston and Ken Jones.

The family will receive friends 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Kenansville Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 798, Kenansville, NC 28349.
