Obituary

Darius Shannon Rose, age 78, of Burgaw and formerly of Charleston, West Virginia passed peacefully from his earthly life on Friday, May 9, 2014 at home.

He was born June 14, 1935 in Clay County, West Virginia, the son of the late Archie Dwight Rose and Sadie Rae Hardway Rose. Also preceding Darius in death are his brother, Richard Rose and sister, Marie Loudermilk.

Darius is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Nancy Jean Harrison Rose; daughter, Tawny Ann Kay (Timothy) of Burgaw; sons, Benny Jay Rose (Amy) of Illinois and Shannon Gene Rose (Danielle) of West Virginia; grandchildren, Teeanna Lunsford, Aaron Kay, Brittany Rose, Jessica Rose, Bethany Rose, Erica Rose, Harrison Rose; and 14 great grandchildren.

Darius served his country honorably in the US Army. By trade Darius was an outstanding auto mechanic. He was a former member of Grace Gospel Baptist Church in Ripley, West Virginia and currently attended Burgaw Baptist Church.

Darius was a wonderful husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother and friend. He enjoyed Southern gospel music. Darius had a kind heart, warm smile and strong Christian faith. Among the many legacies that Darius leaves are the importance of God, Family and Country.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Burgaw Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Morton officiating with a visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall until hour of the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
