Obituary

David Porter Futch, age 65, of Rocky Point died peacefully Monday, February 21, 2011 at his home.

He was born on April 23, 1945 in Wilmington, the son of the late Archie Clarence and Cora Lee Morgan Futch. Porter was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Goldston.

Porter is survived by his loving family; his wife of 42 years, Joyce Horrell Futch; daughters, Karen Renee Williams and Aimee Dawn Fisher (Aaron), both of Rocky Point; grandchildren, LaTrice Williams, Jenee Williams, Rodney "Hot Rod" Williams, and JaLynn "Lil Bootie" Fisher; great grandson, Javon Williams; sisters, Jeannette McLean of Wilmington, Wanda Futch (Leigh) of Burgaw and Claire Ramsey (Louis) of Rocky Point; brothers, C. D. Futch (Peggy) of Wilmington and Allan Futch of Burgaw; mother-in-law, Cora Lee Horrell; and special friend, Robert \\"Rabbit\\" Burns.

Porter was an excellent machine mechanic and was employed with Carlisle Poultry & Egg Associates for many years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who would do anything to help his family and friends. He enjoyed planting a garden and sharing with others. His laughter, his smile and his caring manner will always be remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with The Rev. Edna Cavenaugh and The Rev. Lewis Wescott officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home.
