David Marion Kimble, age 73, of Wilmington passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at Pender Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 13, 1943 in Ohio the son of Pauline Joy Matics Kimble and Frances Marion Kimble but he lived most of his life in the Wilmington area.

David was an LCPL with the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1964 then following his service he later sold insurance with Western-Southern Life Insurance Company. He also worked at a local automotive shop before starting an apprenticeship agreement as an Industrial Mechanic with E.I DuPont de Nemours & Company in 1974. After his retirement from DuPont, he had no problems keeping himself busy. He enjoyed fixing and tinkering with things (there wasn't much he couldn't fix), fishing, riding four wheelers and hunting. David was a good husband, father and grandfather. He was a generous and kind man who would always try to help others. He was always willing to help with household projects. He enjoyed taking care of his grandchildren when they were young and loved being out at the baseball fields watching them play ball.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife over forty years, Mary Jane Kimble.
David is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Stevens of Maple Hill and her husband George Stevens and Melissa Kidd of Wilmington and her husband Mark Kidd; one son, Matthew Kimble of Nashville, TN; one granddaughter, Anastasia Stevens of Maple Hill; three grandsons, Colin Kidd, Cian Kidd and Caden Kidd all of Wilmington; one sister, Faba Lewis of Homeworth, OH; one brother, Forrest Kimble and wife Cathy Kimble; and his many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 17, 2016 at Quinn McGowen Wilmington Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington.
