David Carl Murray, age 66, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Duplin General Hospital.

He was born March 26, 1943 in Pender County and was the son of the late Odell and Lucille Clark Murray. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Bruce Jan White and sister, Melba Jean Shivar.

Surviving are his daughter, Araetta Lee Murray of Burgaw; granddaughter, Araetta Love Grainger of Burgaw; great grandchildren, Elias Jacob White, Bristol Grainger and Michael Tyler Smith; sister, Faye Blanton of Penderlea; brother, Ronnie Dale Murray of Wallace; several loving nieces and nephews and special friend, Willie.

David served his country honorably in the US Army.

David enjoyed the simple things in life, but his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, and his friends. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in God's beautiful world. Cherished memories of David will forever remain in our hearts.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Wallace and at other times will be at the home of his sister, Faye Blanton in Penderlea.

Following the visitation on Sunday a memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Dewey Ball officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Hopewell Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
