Obituary

David Earl Norris, age 63, of Durham left this earthly life after a long illness for his eternal rest on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from Duke University Hospital.

He was born June 17, 1954 in Pender County and was the son of John William Norris and the late Mollie Estelle Parker. David was also predeceased by his brother, Richard Norris.

David proudly served his country in the US Army.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife, Janice Webber Norris of their home; brother, Ted Norris (Julia); sisters, Darlene Anders, and Betty Sherrill (Bob); sisters-in-law, Ilene Merritt (Tony), Patsy Lewis (Chris), Julie Guy (Brandon); 3 special young ladies who loved David so much, Katie Merrritt, Gracie Guy and Madison Lewis. Surviving also are David and Janice's fur babies, which brought lots of comfort to David during his illness, Harley, Sophia, Smokey, Mommie, Buckwheat and Stymie. There are numerous extended family and friends that loved David and was loved in return by him....far to many to name.

David was a loving husband and caring son, brother and uncle who loved his family dearly. He was full of life and had a great sense of humor. David was very gifted and talented. He was an avid visualizer that could create anything he put his mind to. He was an artist, a singer and a jack of all trades. There was not many things that he could not do. Most of all David was a giver. He would go out of his way to help others in need. To the Webber family, David was more than an in-law and uncle; he was a son, brother, uncle and best friend. He was truly loved, respected and a vital part of their family. David will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday evening at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Reverend Tim Norris officiating.
