David Ray Woodcock, 85, of Wilmington, passed away at home on Friday, January 7, 2022.

He was born on August 21, 1936, in Willard, NC, to the late Walter and Maybelle (Leary) Woodcock.

Ray graduated from Burgaw high school where he excelled in basketball and football. He proudly served in the US Navy for 6 years. In 1963 Ray joined Atlantic Discount Corporation when he served as VP, Motor Vehicle Finance Division. In 1988 he moved to Wilmington NC and was president of Credit World Corporation and continued his career in finance until retirement.

Ray was a devoted family man and an avid deer hunter.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Woodcock Price and husband, Dale, Lisa Woodcock Edwards and husband, Don; sister, June Brown; grandchildren, Brad Batchelor and wife, Nadine, Graysen Batchelor and wife, Alexandria, Stephanie Hooper, Mckenzie Stroud, Chandler Stroud, Logan Edwards, Brandy Taylor, Daniel Woodcock; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ray was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah (DeVane) Woodcock; his son, David Allen Woodcock; his brothers, Ronald Woodcock and Danny Woodcock; and grandson, Chris Woodcock.

The family will receive friends 12 - 2 pm Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Pastor Joe Easterling officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Wilmington.
