David Allen
Robinson
Feb 5, 1947 — Jul 18, 2013
David Allen Robinson ("Dave") of Hampstead, died peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice, surrounded by his family. He was 66 years old and spent most of his life in the Wilmington area. The cause was pancreatic cancer.
Dave is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Conne Schwarz; his mother, Anne Reese Robinson; his daughter, Angela Robinson Franke; two grandsons, Brendan and Liam Franke; his sisters, Donavan Spader, Robbi Robinson and Deedie Robinson; his good friends, Kermit, Helen and Martha, and his two cats, CAT and Ebony. He was a member of Hampstead United Methodist Church.
Dave graduated from New Hanover High School in 1965 and from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1970 with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. He worked as a chemist for many years at W. R. Grace.
Dave was a life-long outdoorsman; he had a special fondness for the ocean and the inland waterways. He was an awarding winning amateur photographer and never tired of photographing beaches, marshes, mountains, sand dunes and sunsets. He was fascinated with and collected fossils, sea shells, fishing poles and lures, and antique cameras and weather instruments. He was an avid salt-water and fresh water fisherman.
Dave enjoyed traveling with his wife, Conne. They visited California, Colorado, New York and most recently they took a river cruise in Europe (Austria, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands and Slovakia.)
Dave was a kind, patient, generous and humorous man who was a source of joy to his family and friends. He was very proud of his daughter, Angie, her husband Bob and their sons. His sisters appreciated all the love and support Dave provided to our parents over the years.
