David Ray Watkins, 60, of Rocky Point died Saturday, December 10, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 2, 1951 in Wilmington, the son of the late Joseph M. and Annie Blanton Watkins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Billy and Jack Watkins.

David is survived by his loving family; sisters, Sylvia Head (Robert) of Castle Hayne, Faye Rhodes (Stacy) of Jacksonville and Peggy Taylor (Jimmy) of Currie; brothers, Richard Watkins of Watha, Mack Watkins and Woody Watkins both of Rocky Point; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

David loved his family and was loved in return. Being a very generous man, he was always willing to share anything he owned with both family and friends. David excelled in his profession of auto body repairman and for many years David's passion was restoring antique cars. In years past he enjoyed fishing and being outdoors in God's beautiful world. Cherished memories of David will forever remain in our hearts.

Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Chris Wroten officiating. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home until time of the service.
