Dawn Grimes Dixon, 64, of Wallace passed from this life to her eternal rest on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Born July 19, 1951 in Raleigh, NC, she was the daughter of Marjorie Young Grimes Hicks of Smithfield, NC and the late Roy H. Grimes. She was also predeceased by her sister, Denise Dorman.

Dawn is survived by her lifelong friend and devoted husband of 43 years, Dale Owen "D.O." Dixon of the home; loving daughters, Marla Dixon Whaley and husband, Christopher of Beulaville, and Sumer Dixon Savage of Wallace; grandchildren, Noah Whaley, Georgia Whaley, Sawyer Whaley and Connor Savage; sisters, Terry Morgan and husband, Stacy of Wallace, and Wendy Hartwig of Rocky Point; brother, Timmy Grimes and wife, Betty of Willow Springs, NC and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Dawn was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed reading and gardening. Dawn delighted in surrounding those she loved with comfort, compassion and love.

Dawn was extremely intelligent, analytical, and always to the point. She took pride in her family, and herself. To know her was to love her. Dawn will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the heart of those who knew and loved her.

Memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor Bartley Wooten officiating.
