Delma Ezzell Johnson, age 70, of Rose Hill died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born June 4, 1940 in Duplin County; the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel Ezzell.

Surviving is her devoted husband of 49 years, Graham Hollis Johnson of the home; her son, Michael Hollis Johnson and wife, Kristy of Cary; granddaughters, Holly Johnson and Corrie Beth Johnson; brother, Donnie Ezzell and wife, Betty of Topsail Island and sister, Linda Herring and husband, Tommy of Wallace.

Mrs. Johnson was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a woman of uncommon character, beauty and grace; and to those who knew her, "an instrument of God's love on this earth." Delma was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle presence who looked for and encouraged the best in everyone. She was a shoulder upon whom many found comfort and support. Delma will surely be missed but cherished memories of her will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Magnolia Baptist Church with the Reverend Dan Sellers officiating.

Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, one hour prior the service at Magnolia Baptist Church.
