Delores Virginia Register Stoudenmire, age 104 of Wilmington passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born June 21, 1911 in New Hanover County, North Carolina the daughter of the late Charles Thomas Register and Fannie Mae Marine Register. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband Charles Melvin Stoudenmire Sr.; daughter, Linda S. Vernon; son, Charles M. Stoudenmire Jr.; step father, Oscar Enoch Padrick; six brothers, Charles Thomas Register, Oscar Owen Padrick, Manley Padrick, Edward Padrick, Kenneth Padrick and Jackie Padrick; and three sisters, Estelle Padrick, Eloise Utterback and Eula Maie Brant.
Delores was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister who cherished the time spent in the company of her family. She retired from the children's cloth department of Belk Berry then was able to devote time to raising her children. Delores was a deeply devout Christian and a longtime member of Lake Forest Baptist Church and one of the highlights of her life was a trip taken to Jerusalem with her church family. She loved and cherished the visits of friends, enjoyed sewing, reading her Bible and daily devotions.
Left to cherish her legacy are her daughter, Peggy Holt; son-in-law, Marion Vernon; grandchildren, Mike and Melody McKinney; Eric Stoudenmire; Charles and Stephen Vernon and Annette Lewis; 14 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other loving family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 at Lake Forest Baptist Church, 1626 Lake Branch Drive, Wilmington NC 28401. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff of Azalea Heath and Rehab for their excellent care of Delores and her church family at Lake Forest Baptist Church for their visits and prayers.
Memorials may be made to Lake Forest Baptist Church or to the charity of one's choice.
