Deloris Horrell
Pridgen
Oct 19, 1941 — Apr 3, 2013
Deloris Horrell Pridgen, 71, of Currie passed peacefully from her earthly life on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 with family by her bedside at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 19, 1941 in Bladen County, the daughter of the late W. Ennis and Ada Larkins Horrell.
Deloris is survived by her husband of 51 years, Eugene "Pete" Pridgen; sons, Scott Pridgen and his wife, Sarah, and Delwin Pridgen all of Currie; granddaughter, Evie Pridgen; sister, Velma Ann Longee of Newport News, VA. and numerous extended family.
She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Deloris loved her family dearly and was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She found great joy in the simplest things, but her greatest joy was family. Deloris loved the beauty of nature, the song of the wild birds, and the simplicity of a quiet evening at home with her family. With her warm heart and gentle spirit, she was a good neighbor and friend. In years past, Pete and Deloris enjoyed taking young folks to Dixie Youth baseball games and on picnics. Deloris was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that took her through an extended illness. The family of Deloris is grateful to God for her life, for your friendship and for your kindness and prayers.
