Denise Alane Norris Smith, age 70, of Wallace, left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

She was born on December 17, 1950 in New Hanover County; the daughter of Ruby Wells Norris of Wallace and the late Edgar W. Norris.

She was a graduate of Wallace-Rose Hill High School.

Surviving to cherish her memory is her son, Jason Smith and daughter-in-law, Mary; her brother, Milton Norris and special friend, Colleen Rivenbark; niece, Amy Sue Mangicapra and her husband, Lewis; great-niece, Isabella Mangicapra and numerous friends and extended family that loved Denise dearly.

Denise was a loving mother and caring sister. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family.  Denise was a hard worker who enjoyed her job at Thelma Dingus Bryant Library before retirement.  She loved people and people loved her in return. With a gentle spirit and delightful personality, Denise was a lady in every sense of the word.  She enjoyed reading, meeting people and spending time with her family and friends.  Denise will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
