Dera Wells Barefoot, 89, of Wilmington, NC peacefully passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Dera was born April 17, 1933 in Rocky Point, NC and is preceded in death by her parents, Neadie Lee and Cammie Edell (Ventris) Wells, and her son "Little Tommy" Barefoot; her brothers, Ezra, Daniel, Harry and Dennis; and her sisters, Guilianne, Jewel, Edell and Elsie.

Dera is survived by her beloved husband, Robert T. Barefoot; many nephews, Ken Wells and others; and nieces, Loretta Woodcock, Cammie Johnson, Rita Taylor, and others; and her sister-in-law, Marion Morgan.

Dera was a faithful member and supporter of the Church of God and the Church of God Children's Home for 72 years. She was a member of the local Pine Valley Church of God. Dera was also an avid gardener and loved having a large vegetable garden to tend each summer and working in her yard brought her great joy.

We would like to give a special thank you to Doctor Sutton-Surak and the wonderful staff of Trinity Grove Nursing Home for their kindness and attentive care of our dear loved one.

A funeral service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 12pm with Pastor Larry Horrell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
