Diana Gardner Coats, age 69, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend passed from her earthly life Saturday, May 11, 2024.

She was born September 26, 1954 in Wake County, the daughter of James Harold Gardner and Ida Ashworth Gardner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Trent Coats.

Diana is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Jerry Elijah Coats; son, Jerry Eugene Coats and his wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Jerry Coats II, Cody Coats (Sarabeth), Cody Bollinger, Hunter Coats, and Katelyn Coats; great grandsons, Austin and Bobby; brother, Ricky Gardner (Sonya); many extended family members and friends.

First and foremost, Diana loved her family and created a home filled with warmth and her excellent cooking. Her grandchildren and great grandsons brought her so much happiness as she loved spending time with them. She was loved and will truly be missed.

The family will receive friends at 12 noon on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw with funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in Burgaw Cemetery.
