Diane Kay Highsmith, 65, of Rocky Point and formerly of Greenville, Michigan passed peacefully from her earthly life on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by loving family and friends.

She was born September 27, 1947 in Greenville, Michigan, the daughter of the late Wayne J. and Dorothy Sutton Beardslee. Diane was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Joy H. Whitley.

Diane is survived by her husband, Rev. E. J. Highsmith; daughter, Carrie Beardslee; son, Robert Hanselman, Jr. (Laura); seven grandchildren; step-children, Mandy H. Baker (Austin) and James Sidney Highsmith (Connie); brothers, Gary, Paul, Gale, Larry and George Beardslee; sister, Janet Williams and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Diane was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a faithful member of Rocky Point Untied Methodist Church.

Diane was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She found great joy in the simplest of things, but her greatest joy was family. Diane spoke softly, loved generously and shared often. Through the years Diane was active in the churches that E. J. served as a pastor and she was blessed with a love for the Lord and a faith that took her through an extended illness. Diane's family is grateful to God for her life, for your friendship and for your kindness and prayers.

A Celebration of Life for Diane will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Rocky Point United Methodist Church, Rocky Point, NC with the Rev. E. J. Highsmith and the Rev. Bill Braswell officiating.
