Obituary

Dikki Lynn Wells, 71, passed from death to eternal life on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at her home with love and family.

She was born January 15, 1955 in Bee County, Texas, the daughter of the late Dee Walton Field, Jr. and Bessie Alene Bynum Field.

Dikki is survived by her daughters, Denise Wells Furr (Lenier) and Dani Wells Wooten (Casey); grandsons, Ryan Wooten (Cameron), Jensen Wooten, and Jackson Furr; sister, Jane Donahue; and extended family, Harold and Carolyn Hayes.

Dikki was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who enjoyed life with those she loved most. She was a hard worker and retired from the NC Department of Corrections after many years of dedicated service as a correctional officer.

She lost her father at the early age of four and grew up with a single mother working a night shift as a Bellsouth telephone operator. Her mother would leave the phone "off the hook" at home so she could tap into the line and listen in to Dikki and her sister Janie at night to ensure all was well.

In various seasons of her life, she enjoyed softball, volleyball, coaching, horseback riding, line dancing, working out, gardening, playing guitar, boating, fishing and certainly best, mowing grass. She taxied her girls to the many ballgames, karate, gymnastic classes, school parties and sleepovers. She hosted many slumber parties for young, loud girls.

The second part of her life revolved around three cherished grandsons. She was there for school events, birthdays, pool parties, pumpkin carvings, beach days, Christmas mornings, summer camps, VBS, making boiled peanuts or a simple evening burger on the grill. She introduced them to WWF wrestling, MMA fighting and other non-parent approved TV shows and movies during the weekends at grandmas. She kept her bag chair in her beloved old white truck ready for each and every ball game she could attend. She adored her sons-in-law and the way they loved her girls. She was also ready to get them back in line anytime needed. Her family was her everything on this earth.

Beyond this earth, she was drawing nearer to her relationship with Jesus and continually prayed that her grandsons, daughters and sons-in-law would remain close to the Lord. She pointed them all in His direction when times were hard and in the good times as well. She was faithful. She loved her people very deeply. She created memories that will last forever.

The funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Coras Grove Church with Pastor Randy Little and Pastor Lenier Furr conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Riverview Memorial Park.
