Obituary

Donald "Don" Ray Davis, age 49, of Burgaw died Monday, January 26, 2009 at his home.

He was born May 27, 1959 in Wilmington and was the son of the late Margaret Louise Smith Davis.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Lynn Gibson Davis of the home; son, Donald "Donnie" Ray Davis, Jr. and his wife, Tanya, of Statesville; daughter, Jacklyn Davis Bromelle and her husband, Keyrone, of the US Navy, Portsmouth, Virginia; grandchildren, Raylee Davis, Tandon Davis, Isaiah Bromelle and Evan Bromelle; father, Thomas Green "T.G." Davis and his wife, Mildred, of Burgaw; and brother, Mark Davis of Burgaw.

Don was a devoted husband and loving daddy and granddaddy. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was family. Don as a youth had Christian roots and during his battle with cancer his love for Jesus Christ was rekindled. He had many passions in life - playing darts, anything NASCAR, hunting, fishing and all of God's nature and creations. Of very special importance to Don was his Texas Hold'em card group, who brought him sunshine, hope, friendship and never ending support during his lengthy cancer journey. Don's family is so grateful to this group of friends. Cherished memories of Don will forever remain in our hearts.

He worked many years in Natural Gas and most recently with Campbell Oil Company in Burgaw.

A celebration of Don's life will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Donald Ray Davis, Jr. and The Rev. Dr. Wayne Dyer officiating.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service on Thursday until 6:00 p.m. at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 2222 s. 17th St., Wilmington, NC 28401.
