Donald "Donnie" McL Barnhill, Jr., 70, passed from his earthly life Friday, June 5, 2026 at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born November 14, 1955 in Wilmington, the son of the late Donald McL Barnhill, Sr. and Miriam Barnhill Core. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, William "Bill" Norman Core.

Donnie Is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Wendy White Barnhill; sister-in-law, Amy Futch (Frank); brother-in-law, Freddy White (Tina); nieces, McKenzie Bucher (Aaron) and Madalyn White; nephew, Fred White (Leilani); great niece, Lily Mae; great nephew, Myles; and many friends. Not to be forgotten is Donnie's loving garage cat, Tadpole and that cat did truly  love Donnie.

Until his retirement Donnie was owner of D & WB Transport and through the years he drove countless miles and hours.

Donnie was a wonderful husband, a special uncle, and a great friend to his many coffee drinking and hunting buddies. On a daily basis, Donnie gathered with his breakfast group at Johnson's Grill. Another place Donnie could often be found was chatting with friends at Rocky Point General Store. He was a member of Burgaw Hunting Club as Donnie enjoyed God's outdoor world of nature. Hunting and fishing were top on his list of fun things to do. Donnie's presence in our lives will surely be missed.

Honoring Donnie's request there will be no services held.
