Donald "Donnie" Ray DeBose, age 73, passed gently to his eternal rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

He was born July 1, 1951, in Pender County, the son of Ivey DeBose and Joyce Taylor Padgett.  In addition to his parents Donnie was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald "Ronnie" DeBose.

Donnie is survived by his aunts, Annette Wells, Geraldine Jarman, and Darles Burgess; two half-sisters; Rachel and Shannen, who Donnie thought of as his own granddaughters; special friends and cousins, Teresa Wells Steel, Edward and Diane Rivenbark, Stuart Wells and Chris Wells; many extended family and friends all who loved Donnie.

For over 35 years Donnie lived in Texas where he was famous for making beautiful and outstanding custom cabinets. He was a true wood craftsman. About five years ago Donnie returned to his roots in Pender County. Over the years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Most recently Donnie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He loved gatherings of family and friends to eat and fellowship together. Most of all he loved his family. Donnie was loved and will truly be missed.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with Rev. Barry Wells conducting the service. The family will receive friends following the service.
