Donald Joseph Horan, age 78, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.

He was born on May 1, 1942 in Bronx, NY to the late Daniel Horan and Catherine (Maloney) Horan.

Donald, an army veteran of the Vietnam War, worked as a General Foreman for Time Warner in Manhattan, NY and moved to Wilmington, NC when he retired. He was a faithful member of Wilmington First Assembly Church, where he worked as an usher and chief encourager. Donald was also a devoted member of AA for 41 years. He was an avid reader and loved walking his dog. Most of all, he loved his family. Donald was a bright light to many people and will be missed dearly.

Donald is survived by his wife of 42 years, Geraldine (Luckey) Horan; sons, Daniel Horan and wife, Buffy Dingman, and John Horan; brother, Thomas Horan; sister, Elizabeth Scollan; and grandchildren, Stephanie Horan, Veronica Horan and Nicole Colon.

A memorial service will be held at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11am with Pastor Jeffery Lee Stockford officiating and the U.S. Army performing military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
