Obituary

Donald Scott Morgan, 57, of Rocky Point left his earthly life too soon, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home.

He was born March 25, 1959 in Hampton, Virginia, the son of Judy Morgan Wilson and the late Elbert Donald Morgan, Jr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Morgan.

Scott leaves behind his beloved wife of 34 years, Debbie Morgan; daughter, Kelly Goff (Robert); son, Chris Morgan; grandchildren; Gavin Goff and Caitlyn Goff; mother, Judy Hopkins Morgan Wilson (Tommy); sister, Jennifer Morgan Hill (Richard); brothers, Dennis Morgan (Amelia), David Morgan (Karrie) and Sam Morgan (Candy); many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Scott was owner of Scott Morgan Construction, Inc. for over 30 years where he was a master craftsman, building many custom homes in the Wilmington and beach areas of North Carolina. He attended East Carolina University majoring in music.

Most important to Scott was his family as he was a wonderful son, husband, daddy, granddaddy, and brother. His accomplishments in life were many as he was gifted and talented in many ways: music, he could play most any instrument with the wood winds being his first choice. Scott played in the Wilmington and North Carolina Symphony Orchestras. Scott was active in the community as he coached Dixie Youth baseball for 10 years and continued as an umpire for an additional 10 years. Pleasures enjoyed by Scott were hunting and fishing with his brothers in God's great and bountiful world of nature. Scott was an honest, hard working business man and considered the men that worked for him, many over 25 years, to be part of his family. Scott was a good man; he not only taught us how to live, but set an excellent example to all. He leaves a legacy of love, courage, and strength in handling whatever life brought his way. Precious memories of Scott will remain in our hearts.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home in Burgaw.
