Donald Joseph Wrought, age 84, of Washington, NC left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 17, 1931 in Rochester, MN, he was the son of the late William D. and Edna Schmit Wrought. He was also predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Blanton Wrought.
Donald proudly served his country honorably in the US Marines during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the military, he worked 30 years in several capacities including supervision in the textile industry. Donald was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Farmville as long as his health permitted.
Surviving is his devoted children, David J. Wrought and wife, Jodie of Grimesland, Michael A. Wrought of Washington, William "Bill" H. Wrought and wife, Deidre of New Bern and Donna W. Waters and husband, Tuell of Washington; grandchildren, Liam Wrought, Connor Wrought, Kevin Wrought, Robert J. Wrought, Kayla Wrought and Emma Waters; two great grandchildren; brother, William D. Wrought, Jr. and wife, Barbara of Aurora, IL, sister, Mary O'Brien of Kasson, MN and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Donald was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed his work and was always willing to do what it took to get the job done. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and spending time with his family. Donald loved his family, his church and his country. A man of great integrity, Donald will be missed by all who knew him.
Graveside service with military honors by the US Marines will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha, NC with Bishop Aaron Waters officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Donald's memory to the American Heart Association Memorial Tribute and Processing Ctr, 4217 Park Place Ct, Glenn Allen VA 23060.
