Donna Jean Adams, 82, passed away the evening of December 13, 2023 in Wilmington, N.C.

Born October 23, 1941, she was the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth "Midge" Dicob Wilder. Donna was married to Gilbert Adams on July 2, 1966. Together they raised a daughter, Cheryl, whom she had from a previous relationship. For many years they owned and operated the Buckhorn Tavern in Long Pond. The marriage ended in divorce.

She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her dogs, Shelly and D.J., were her world until they passed away. She enjoyed playing games on her computer, reading, crafting, sunbathing and watching cop shows. She also loved the community she lived in where she had made many great friends. Together they enjoyed growing old, going out on occasion for Margaritas, and preparing meals for each other; they cared deeply for one another. Donna will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving Donna are a son-in-law Scott Godwin; four grandchildren, Danielle (Barry) Braglin, Kelly Keefer and companion Chris Schafefer, Evan (Brittany) Keefer, and Tristin Keefer; and eleven great grandchildren, Alexis (Jordan) Sawaya, Hunter Braglin, Stefanie Keefer and companion Evan Baker, Julio Gomez, Isabel Gomez, Gabriella Alvarado, Mason Braglin, Madison Keefer, Kelsey Keefer, Lucas Schaefer and Tobia Schaefer.

Also surviving Donna are two brothers, Donald (Nancy) Wilder, James Wilder; three half-brothers, Edward (Marsha) Wilder, Raymond (Janice) Wilder and Harry (Chong) Wilder; five half-sisters, Candy (Gary Schwartz, Tina (Jeffrey) Peers, Tammy (Mark) Flores, Christina (Paul) Monnat, and Sheila (Galen) Roggie; and one step-sister, Patricia Bush as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents; her only child, Cheryl Ann Godwin; three half-brothers, Robert Kampney, Rodney Kampney and Timothy Wilder; one half-sister, Donna Marie Wilder; and two step-sisters, Joyce Ward and Sharon Buckingham.

In the spring, a private family gathering will take place to honor and remember Donna.
