Dora Alice Ivey, 84, of Burgaw passed gently from her earthly life Monday, January 2, 2023 at Novant Health Pender Medical Center.

She was born April 19, 1938 in Pender County, the daughter of Daniel Albert Ivey and Florence Estelle Moore Ivey. In addition to her parents Alice was preceded in death by her brothers, James, Daniel and Horace Ivey; and sister, Mary Ann Hoy.

Alice is survived by her loving family, daughters, Sherry Comentale and Mary L. Myers; grandchildren, Tara Strickland (Robert), Adam Pate (Ashley), Josh Myers (Katie), and Steven Pate (Casey); great grandchildren, Cybil Peterson (Tyler), Cody Strickland, Alexis Guertin (Bryce), Jonathan Strickland, Sydney Shank (Kevin), Alaina Pate, Alivia Pate, Abigail Pate, Tyler Myers, James Foster, Laynie Myers, Kameryn Myers, Kelsie Myers and Nathan Foster; four great great grandchildren; brother, Hugh Ivey; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Alice attended Gateway Community Church in Burgaw.

Alice loved her family, was a kind and thoughtful lady, and a wonderful mother, who was affectionately called Granny and Grandma Alice by her grandchildren. She was noted for her light fluffy biscuits with her three fingerprints she patted on each biscuit. Her granddaughter, Tara, remembers learning how to make biscuits from watching Alice. For fun and pleasure Alice enjoyed fishing as well as taking her grandchildren fishing. Alice will be remembered for her sweet spirit, gentle smile and willingness  to help others.

A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel.

The family will receive friends at the funeral following the memorial service.
