Dora Brown English Rivenbark, 89, of Wallace left this earthly life for her eternal rest on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
She was born on November 29, 1932, in Duplin County and was the daughter of the late Edgar and Dora Pauline Brown English. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Mack Rivenbark, Sr.; her son, Mack Rivenbark, Jr.; her grandson, Duane Aldridge and siblings, Edwin "Bill" English, Norwood "Buddy" English, Harold English, Emory English, and James Earl English.
Mrs. Rivenbark was a life-long member of Poston Baptist Church where she taught children for many years.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth R. Glasgow and husband, Charles of Conway, SC, Pamela R. Fisher and husband, David of Wilmington and Jo Ann R. Owenby and husband, Jim of New Bern; grandchildren, Jason Aldridge and wife, Erica, Bartley Dixon and wife, Nikki and Chris Rivenbark and wife, Melissa; step-grandchildren, Charlie Glasgow and wife, Wendy and Mary Ann Windburn and husband, Scott; great grandchildren, Logan Aldridge, Dalton Aldridge, Blaine Aldridge, Colton Dixon, Megan Rivenbark and Graham Rivenbark, step great grandchildren, Trent Windburn and Grace Glasgow and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Dora was a loving mother and caring grandmother who loved her family dearly. When her health permitted, she was a diligent homemaker and with a joyful spirit she filled her home with love. Dora loved children and loved teaching them about Jesus. She was a friend to all, a strong yet gentle presence who looked for and encouraged the best in everyone. Dora was a woman of uncommon character, beauty, and grace; and to those who knew her, "an instrument of God's love on this earth." She will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Dora.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Riverview Memorial Park in Watha with Pastor Brandon Kelley officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
