Doris Johnson Benson, age 63, of Leland, NC passed away on, Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, NC.

She was born on October 21, 1959 in Wilmington, NC to the late Robert Lee Johnson, Sr. and Joyce Faye Stephenson.

Doris was a very caring person who loved to laugh. She loved her dog-babies and loved her family dearly. In general, Doris loved everybody. She was a bright light to many people and will be missed.

Doris is survived by her husband, Robert Lewis Benson; son, Cecil Davis, Jr.; brothers, Robert Lee Johnson, Jr. (Allison); sisters, Barbara Ann Gilham and Patty Bulluck; sisters-in-law, Brenda Johnson and Helen Keiper (George); brother-in-law, Billy Benson; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her stepmother, Barbara Johnson.

Charitable contributions in memory of Doris may be made to any of the eight Brunswick County Animal Shelters or an animal shelter of your choice.
