Obituary

Doris Newill Conklin, age 88, of Bay Tree Lakes, Harrells NC, passed peacefully from her earthly life on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Davis Health Care Center in Wilmington.

She was born June 11, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Edward Thompson Newill and Josephine Louise Cook Newill. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Hall "Pap" Conklin and a brother Edward W. Newill.

Doris is survived by her loving family; son George E "Butch" Conklin and his wife, Dottie Burns of Bay Tree Lakes; daughters, Suzanne C. Jolivette and husband, Raymond of Hampstead, Lois C. Stoltz and her husband, Dave of Rosemont, New Jersey, and Margaret "Pegge" C. Cook and husband, Michael of Boston, New York; grandchildren, Christopher Braun and wife, Pamela Sager, Leslie Stoltz Morris and husband, Jay, Matthew Stoltz, Katherine Stoltz, Sarah Worix, Stephanie Cook, Michelle Jolivette Berman and Danielle Jolivette Crawford; great grandchildren, Zachary Braun, Jacob Braun, MacKenzie Braun, Hailie Berman, Abigail Berman, Claudia Crawford, Tabitha Crawford, Nehemiah Crawford, Katura Crawford, and Ezra Crawford.

She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Hawthorne-Ramapo Temple Star Chapter 286 in the state of New York.

Doris was very involved with many activities during her lifetime. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and crocheting. As you can imagine Doris never sat still while raising their four children. She volunteered with the American Red cross, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and served on the Board of Elections. She was a member of the Round Lake Park Association in Monroe, New York and was instrumental in starting a Booster Club for Monroe-Woodbury schools. After moving to North Carolina, she was remained community active, being a member of the Women's Association of Bay Tree Lakes. After her husband died in 2001 Doris moved to The Woods at Holly Tree Senior Living in Wilmington, North Carolina and later to Davis Health Care Center at Porter's Neck, North Carolina.

First and foremost Doris loved her family and was the BEST wife, mom, grandmother, and friend. She had a great sense of humor and created a home filled the love, laughter, caring and sharing. Her beautiful smile, quiet faith in God, and joy in life will always be remembered and treasured.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Black River Presbyterian Church in Ivanhoe, North Carolina with the Rev Roy Brewton officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
