Doris Wilma Piner Tosto, age 95, of Willard passed from this earthly life to her new home in Heaven on Friday, September 22, 2023.

She was born on April 1, 1928, in Pender County, NC to the late Archie Henry and Sally Jean English Piner.  Mrs. Tosto was also preceded in death by her husband Virgil Mason Tosto; her sisters Louise Southerland, Pearl Courtney, Mildred McPherson and Betty P. McGlohon.

Mrs. Doris was a life-long member of Willard Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a vital part of the kitchen ministry when her health permitted.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Sherry T. Warren of Conover, NC and Wayne M. Tosto of Willard; grandchildren, Julie W. Young and husband Robert, Caron W. Bradford and husband Trey, Melissa Tosto, Brent Smith and Becca Carter; great grandchildren Ryleigh Catherine Young, Jackson Matthew Young, Blake Warren Bradford, Luke Kellen Bradford and Dylan Cole Bradford and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Doris dearly.

Doris was a loving mother and caring grandmother who loved her family with all her heart.  She was a hard worker who enjoyed her job at the hosiery plant.  With a genuine love for those she worked with, Doris felt her coworkers were her extended family.  She loved to work in the garden and cook for her children and for anyone in need.  Doris also loved her church.  She enjoyed being a part of Willard Baptist Church and its wonderful family.  With a big heart, Doris loved animals, especially dogs.  She adored the animals, mostly dogs, that her family acquired over the years.  Doris was a special lady who loved and was loved in return.  She will be greatly missed but fond memories of her will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Riverview Memorial Park, Watha, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to Union Rescue Squad,  89 Veach Street, Willard NC 28478 in memory of Doris P. Tosto.
