Dorothy M. Smith Brown, 77, of Rocky Point, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at her daughter's home with her family by her side. She was born in Sampson County on December 6, 1943 to the late Henry Kirby and Edie Boyette Smith.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her first husband, the "love of her life,' Bobby Lee Autry, Sr.; her second husband of 20 years, Donald Brown, Sr.; grandson, Robert Lee Dixon Autry; one sister; and seven brothers.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Donna Autry, Betty Autry, Diana Richards (Bobby) and Lisa Oxendine; son, Bobby Autry, Jr. (Mendy); grandchildren, Christina, Tommy, Stephanie, Bobby III, Phillip, Kaysi, Donald, William, Jamie, Bradley, Johnny, and Summer; great grandchildren Elijah, Goddrick, Jamerson, Carson, Donald Jr., Kaylin, Elle, and newborn baby boy; and two sisters.

Dorothy served the medical community for 40 years, working as a CNA. She also loved dining on crab legs and shopping. However, and most of all,  Dorothy will be remembered for her giving spirit and the joy it gave her to raise "the BEST children in the world."

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Oakdale Cemetery, 520 North 15th Street, Wilmington, with Reverend Ted Mercer officiating.
