Dorothy Annie Hollinshed Cobb, 92, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed gently from her earthly life on Monday, July 13, 2015 at her home.
She was born November 19, 1922 in Delair, NJ, the daughter of the late LeRoy Dexter and Elsie Rose String Hollinshed. Also remembered is her husband, John Gray Cobb, Sr. who died in 1983.
Dorothy is survived by her nine children, John G. Cobb, Jr. (Carolyn) of Atkinson; LeRoy Cobb (Mona) of Atkinson, Thomas Cobb (Linda) of Sutton, AK, Annie Mears (Bruce) of Atkinson, Marjorie Helsel (Don) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Alma Cobb Bell of Melbourne, FL, Paul Cobb (Sharon) of Clayton, OH, Liles Cobb (Lou) of Lake Forest, CA, and Judy Wells, (Ben) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, John III, Cristin (Chad), Nancy, Adam, Samy, Tommy, Karen (Joe), David (Laurie), Lori (Chirag), Elizabeth (Aaron), Charlene (Michael), Rebecca (Joshua), Allen (Jersey), Amy (Chad), Julie, Beau (Tracy), Nicole, Jessica (Daniel), Jared, Timothy, Chris, Melissa, Julie (Omar), Emily, Hilary, and Carrie; and 27 great grandchildren.
Through the years Dorothy was affiliated with a number of churches, Delair UMC (NJ), Atkinson Baptist, Haw Bluff Baptist, Shiloh Baptist, Bear Branch Baptist, Oceanview Baptist (SC) and most recently, First Baptist Church of Wallace. Many of these churches she generously shared her talent and love of music by serving as pianist. Many will fondly remember Dorothy as their piano teacher.
Dorothy loved with all of her heart and her radiant smile brightened the life of all she knew. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and her greatest joy beyond her children was her grandchildren. Dorothy was many things to many people. However, the one thing all would agree is that she made everyone around her feel loved, special and cared for. What an honor it is that the talented, learned and loving Dorothy has lived among us.
