Obituary

Dorothy Crews Gray, 78, of Burgaw passed peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2011 at her home with her beloved family at her side.

She was born February 2, 1933 in Onslow County, the daughter of Luther and Lillie Bell Rivenbark Crews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ivey Gray, Sr. and three brothers.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family; her sons, Ivey Gray (Teresa) of Watha and Larry Gray (Irene) of Rocky Point; grandchildren, David Gray, Jessica Corbett (Brent), Megan Gray and Kayla Beatty-Gray (Armond); six great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Sawyer of Holly Springs, Della Beasley (L.C.), and Mildred Bryan all of Burgaw; and brother, Jaddie Crews of Burgaw.

She was a longtime faithful member of Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Dorothy was a very caring lady who loved her family dearly and showed that love in her own special way. She liked nothing better than watching Western movies and the Atlanta Braves play baseball weather they won or lost. Dorothy brought much joy into the lives of friends and family as she was always considerate of others. Her laughter, her joyful spirit and her caring manner will always be remembered and cherished.

Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church with The Rev. John Barnes officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Jordan's Chapel United Methodist Church, 4670 Stag Park Rd, Burgaw, NC 28425.
